The simplest definition of yoga is disciplining the body and its movements so as to preserve energy, improve health and prevent disease. It helps to gain control over the nervous system and develop tolerance of body and mind. Continued practice is a must for getting thorough with the yoga asanas. Beginners used to practice yoga under the guidance of a trainer. Many people also practice yoga with the help of yoga books and videos. Nowadays, there are various websites on yoga which provide all information and guidance regarding yoga practice. From the websites, one can know about the different types of exercises, their benefits and also the requirements and preparations for performing the asanas.

Yoga poses are the most import aspects to be learnt thoroughly while practicing yoga. The beginners of yoga may start with the simple postures and gradually go to the complicated poses. Starting home yoga practice can be done in one day but, a practitioner of yoga should have the determination and enthusiasm for sustained practice. Obstacles are unavoidable but, over and above those constraints, one must stick on to the yoga practice and continue with it so as to get the real benefits. After developing interest and determination, one must know the poses to be performed every day.

Prior to practicing yoga every day one has to prepare for the practice without which the desired results may not come. Yoga should be done with empty bowels only. The yoga dress should be loose and brief. The practitioner should warm up his body before the practice. Beginners may start with the sitting poses and all practitioners must finish the exercise session with the corpse pose. According to the positioning of the body, the yoga poses can be classified into five different types – standing, sitting, prone, supine and reverse.

Yoga is a way to attain physical health and mental happiness. Regular home yoga practice will make the body to develop resistance against many diseases. Another great advantage is that it will help the mind to be peaceful amidst the stress and tension of life. Heart ailments occur mainly due to mental pressure and stress. Lack of physical exercise of the body leads to hypertension, overweight of body, ulcer, blood pressure fluctuations etc. Adopting yoga as a way of life will help to be healthy and peaceful throughout one’s life. In the absence of a teacher, online yoga sessions and downloads of yoga demonstrations are found helpful for those who are desirous of developing their yoga skills.
