When someone changes their diet, it does not always mean they are trying to lose weight.  When a person diets, they may be wanting to eat healthier, or actually GAIN weight, or even increase/decrease muscle mass.

The point is, depending on the person, dieting may take many forms. 

Also, a diet doesn’t mean giving up certain foods, or only eating apples and carrots all day.  It can be a simple thing as eating at a different time of day. 

So, all that being said, today I will outline a few things that can have an affect on your diet, and then you can take it any direction you would like.

1. Eggs and Bagels.  Studies show that over 200 fewer calories per day are consumed by folks who ate eggs in the morning instead of a bagel. (Saint Louis University)  This study shows that protein is more filling that carbs and therefore, one eats less the rest of the day.

2. Eat What You Like. We all know that if we don’t eat what we like, we won’t stay on that particular diet, right?  So, if you really love pasta, why not just use half the sauce as you usually do?  Why eat a double cheese burger when a single cheeseburger will do the trick? It’s not about starving yourself, it’s about making smart choices. Just keep this in mind, eat what you like, just stay within reason.

3. Sleep 8 Hours a Night.  Your body is designed to function at its best at around 8 hours of sleep a night.  Research has shown that too little or too much snoozing at night can add extra pounds. Play around with this.  Go to be a half hour earlier for about a week and see what happens.  How do you feel?  Then reverse it, go to be a half hour later.  A good night’s rest can also make you more productive the next day.  Just a thought.

4. Do Your Workouts BEFORE Lunch or Dinner. It’s no secret that after a good workout you should be some nutritious food or beverage in your system.  Why not combine a regular meal with a “workout refueling” meal?  Makes sense, right?  Also, because of just working out, you’re more aware of what you are putting in your body, so you’ll be more conscious of a good nutritious meal.

5. Be Extra Proper at the Table. When we’re at the table, we don’t always worry about manners and etiquette.  Chewing with your mouth closed and cutting up your food is almost a lost art.  Doing this makes you more aware of your table surroundings.  Make it a point to be as proper as possible.  This isn’t only good for your diet, but for social interaction as well.

Although many people think that pilates is a new workout that just appeared on the marked a couple of years ago, it was actually created around the turn of the 20th century by Joseph Pilates. Unlike many western workouts, the pilates method blends both eastern and western philosophies to exercise both your mind and your body.

Pilates focuses on giving you a thinking body. Although this concept may sound strange, Joseph Pilates believed that mastering your body meant mastering your mind. For this reason, he called his method “Contrology”. By performing his prescribed movements, you can be sure that over time, you will master both your body and your mind.

Some people might think Pilates is an easy workout, but that’s usually only those people who have never tried performing the movements. Although pilates may seem easy to someone watching from the sidelines, actually performing the exercises is quite difficult and requires practice.

During practice, it’s common for your arms, legs, and abdominals to start shaking. That is because pilates pinpoints areas of weakness, lack of coordination, and imbalances in your body. To continue holding these positions requires strong mental concentration. Pushing through your weaknesses requires just as much mental strength and practice as it does physical strength and practice. But at the end of the day, you will feel better about yourself (and your body) because you pushed yourself beyond your limitations and emerged victorious on the other side.

Pilates requires perseverance and stays without you long after you’ve completed your workout for the day. Pilates creates an awareness of your body and allows you to have more self-discipline and control.

Pilates is an excellent way to trim down your body and strengthen core muscles
without bulking up. This style of exercise will teach you how to control your
body’s movements and increase your flexibility and grace. This is the secret to
many top model’s and celebrity’s beautiful physique.

This is one of the best ways to get a workout since it allows you to exercise at
home whenever you have the time. It is recommended that you do it at least three
times a week. With no commuting to the gym, your time will be your own.

There are two general types of Pilates: one requires equipment, the other only
requires a mat. Previously, equipment was too bulky for people to bring home,
but now companies have begun to fill the market niche for home workout
equipment. DVDs have been made to give you different choices for workouts,
either on a mat or with the special equipment.

Before buying a DVD and starting the workout, it is recommended that you take a
couple of Pilates classes at your local recreation center. This allows your
technique to be corrected to prevent injuries later on.
