Yoga increases flexibility, lowers stress, and increases your energy level. It is not about simply completing a stretch so that you can move on to the next one; yoga coordinates breathing with movement, allowing you to fully experience the stretch. Yoga is not only a physical exercise but a practice that creates a sense of well-being, relaxation and inner harmony. It will make your body more flexible, your mind more at ease, and will keep you looking and feeling youthful.

The word yoga means “union”; it is about the connection of body, mind, spirit, and planet. The combination of breathing and movement brings steadiness to the mind and can be used to awaken your energy chakras. The idea is to focus awareness on exactly what you are doing in the moment, to be mindful. You may find the link between the body, mind and spirit to offer a new area of inner growth and self-understanding.

Some types of yoga involve meditation and chanting. Hatha yoga attempts to balance mind and body via physical exercises, or “asanas”, controlled breathing, and the calming of the mind through relaxation and meditation. And traditionally, hatha yoga is used to cultivate the physical body in order to make it a healthy and fit vehicle for meditation and further energy work.

Hatha yoga primarily concerns itself with “asanas” or postures. The word Hatha comes from combining the two sanskrit terms “ha” meaning sun and “tha” meaning moon. As mentioned, Hatha Yoga is part of a system of yoga aimed at achieving total enlightenment. Ashtanga is a popular style of hatha yoga that incorporates a vigorous, and continuous flow of physical postures into its routine.

Yoga is a perfect workout program that’s easy to learn, requires little or no equipment, and soothes your soul while toning your body. It both strengthens and stretches your entire body and requires you to balance the effort in your arms, torso, and legs so you don’t overburden any one area.

Yoga is practiced barefoot, so you don’t have to worry about special shoes and should be done on an empty stomach. Whatever the body can do in a yoga session is exactly what it should be doing. As you continue practicing yoga, you may find that yoga can lead to a journey within yourself, as well as a more toned and defined body.

By: Ali Carsen

About the Author:

Exercise is important for a number of reasons. It provides cardiovascular health which keeps the body looking and feeling younger. Exercise helps improve immunity and keep disease at bay. Pilates’ workouts are a part of that exercise equation.

What is Pilates? Many people think that it is just a dainty workout for people who are already in shape. These people believe it involves stretching, bending and eating celery to maintain the body, but don’t believe it has anything to do with fitness. For those who think along those lines, you might actually be surprised by the truth behind Pilates.

Pilates is a workout developed by Joseph Pilates that uses the idea of contrology. It balances the body through a series of controlled movements designed to stretch and build muscles in the body.

Anyone can do Pilates. The moves sound intimidating like the downward facing dog, but it isn’t sinister skinny people speak I promise. Your body might need a bit of time to adjust to the positions in the beginning, but that’s usually the case with any exercise routine. Those who have taken up the Pilates workout have come to love it and swear by its results.

The way Pilates was developed involved using a series of ropes and pulleys. More modern Pilates styles like the Windsor Pilates workout program don’t use such a contraption, but a mat and other small pieces of equipment to bring the amazing results some people have experienced.

The main target of Pilates is the core. Our core is the center of our body. It supports the rest of our body and resists injuries that are a result of poor muscle development in the core which includes the abdominals and the back muscles.

Pilates’ workouts keep the core muscles in mind through every movement and routine. As you work, you’ll see your stomach become shapely and defined. You can even get a six pack if you want it from the help of a workout like this. Building muscle through Pilates burns fat when combined with a decent eating plan.

Pilates has six principles that are built into the workout routines: breath, concentration, control, centering, flow, and precision. The entire body is connected and by working all of the muscle groups, the body becomes a lean machine that can handle anything.

Pilates’ classes can be taken at a gym, a private studio, or through a DVD series of workouts if you exercise at home or are limited on time. With Pilates, you won’t be running around or lifting heavy weights, but your body will get a deep workout that will change its shape. Pilates works well for people who can’t handle vigorous exercise.

By: Tony Thomas

About the Author:

Getting into shape has never been more fun when it comes to women’s workouts. More and more women are starting to realize the need to exercise. With that comes along the idea of creating workout programs, apparel, and accessories that is tailor-made especially for the female gender.

Research have shown that women are more inclined to enrolling in a dancing class than men simply because of the fact that this kind of exercise takes away the boredom of going to the gym and sweating it out. The stigma exercising brings is masked when a fun and engaging way, like dancing is incorporated into the workout plan. Therefore, fitness clubs have thought of ways to integrate enjoyable programs into women’s workout that will allow women to have a fitness routine without getting the feeling of burning up calories the tedious way.

Just simply check out the different fitness clubs and gyms in your locality and you will surely find many offering different time slots for different form of dances. For a total workout program, these dances top the most recommended, starting with belly dancing, hip-hop aerobics, salsa, cha-cha, and pole dancing. Many women’s workout videos have also gained popularity for women who would opt to do their workout at home or in a friend’s house. With the steady rise of workout classes, the number of female celebrity fitness instructors is also steadily increasing.

With more and more women getting into shape the fun and fabulous way, so does the need for apparel and accessories especially made for women’s workout routines. Gone are the days when women have the same cut and color of jogging pants as men, only it’s a size smaller than their husbands or boyfriends. Clothing giants have banked on the idea that many women who have the buying power would enjoy shopping for gym clothes that appeal to their whims and would show their womanhood and unique personalities.

More than ever, sports and fitness shops have been constantly adding racks upon racks of various women’s fitness apparel and accessories, from tops to bottoms to towels and yoga mats. All these are designed for women, even just starting with workout shoes to getting dumbbells in hot pink. After all, every woman still wants to look her best even while sweating it out at the gym, right? Indeed, a women’s workout is not just about doing exercises.

To top it all off, fitness accessories manufacturers have also gone out of their way to create “female versions” of their goods. How about running a mile or two with a girlfriend and listening to good music on a fuchsia pink iPod? Or stashing your towels, clothes, and water bottle in a cute Hello Kitty gym bag? The designs these fitness accessories companies have been making are guaranteed to appeal to every woman’s fancy. Some women even consider taking them out of the gyms and use them for other purposes whenever apt.

Fitness apparels and accessories, as well as exercise programs custom-made especially for women have been gaining so much popularity. When there’s a truly enjoyable workout routine like dancing and a variety of gender-sensitive fitness and sports accessories and apparel to choose from, women will truly be inclined to showing off and celebrating their womanhood the healthy way. With all these in place, it can be said that women’s workout will never be the same again.

By: Manny Crespo

About the Author:

I think it is safe to say that we all know that if we incorporate strength training as a method of fitness that women are going to gain muscle mass. But, this is only one benefit behind women’s fitness strength training!

Let us call these benefits the magic 7! These are my top reasons for promoting strength training, aside from the given benefit of looking AMAZING.

1. Increase strength. If you gain muscle that obviously you are going to gain strength at the same time. This new found strength will make any women feel more independent and powerful! Just think you may no longer need your significant other to open the pickle jar.

2. Decrease Fat. Creating muscle takes a lot of work from your body. The body’s metabolism will increase so to compensate for the increase need of fuel. And the natural place for this fuel to come? Your fat. So you increase your lean muscle mass and wave good bye to the love handles that every girl despises.

3. Increase bone density. As women grow older their bodies start to make less estrogen. Estrogen is very helpful for keeping our bones strong and unbreakable. With this drop and the natural tendency to decrease activity with age osteoporosis is an almost guarantee these days. BUT with weight training this can be withheld. The strain that you place on the bones during weight baring exercise actual promotes bone strengthening and it is the actions of today that can help you out in the future. So by having a weight training routine women can decrease their risk of the curved poor posture and a broken hip!

4. Fight off the flu. Staying active promotes a healthy lifestyle all the way around, including the immune system. You immune system will stay strong and keep those nasty germs away! But also keep in mind there is too much of a good thing. Sure a balanced workout program will keep the bugs away but over training can actually lead to a decreased efficient immune system! Stay smart and keep workouts 3-5 times per week and never longer than 90 minutes.

5. Hello Dolly! The improvements to your body and the commitment that you put forward are going to make you look and feel better. Confidence in and out of the weight room will sky rocket. People will notice this increase in confidence and your popularity will sore! People will ask you for advice and listen because the aura you shine will have them looking up at you.

6. Never look a day older than 30! Exercise has been shown to slow the aging process. This is probably for a few reasons: 1. regular exercise keeps your body looking young and in shape. And 2. The majority of regular exercisers are also healthy in other aspects. Low levels of alcholism, smokers, heavy “fast food eaters”, and healthier lifestyles all together.etc.

And DRUM ROLL PLEASE

7. Improved life. This kinda goes on from above but fitness is a lifestyle not just a short term solution. Women that turn to strength training will be less likely to suffer from such terrible burdons such as depression, anxiety, diabetes, obesity, heart disease, cancers, boredom, etc. Weight training is a great exercise because it can be changed all the time. Tired of a certain exercise? Good, do something else!

So there you have it. The top 7 reasons why women should have a fitness strength training program. If there is not enough here to persuade you then maybe you just do not want to be persuaded.

By: Taylor Ryan

About the Author:

Many women have a hard time getting the kind of sexy abs that they desire. And indeed, it is difficult for a woman to get ripped abs because it’s hard to get rid of that stubborn layer of belly fat most women have. The reason why so many women fail to get a flat stomach is because they don’t know how to go about it. They don’t have a diet and fitness plan which can burn that belly fat right off. So, what is the best abs diet for women who want to get a flat stomach?

I believe that the best abs diet for women is the massively popular Truth About Abs program by trainer Mike Geary. The reason why I believe it is an excellent abs diet and workout program for women is that it is perfectly adaptable to the modern woman lifestyle.

The Truth About Abs is based on short and intensive workouts which fit into the busy schedule of most women. It provides detailed nutritional guidelines which can be followed by any woman. You have great freedom in food selection and preparation. Above all, the Truth About Abs is less focused on building abs muscles than on burning body fat in general and belly fat in particular. This is perfect for women because most women don’t really want six pack abs, they just want a flat and firm stomach.

What is also great about the Truth About Abs is that it takes a complete body approach meaning that you will lose body fat from all the trouble spots on your body like your thighs, hips, and butt, and not just from your abs. For women in particular who usually have more than one trouble spot, this is doubly effective. You will not only lose belly fat, you will tone your entire body in the process.

By: John Davenport

About the Author:
