Getting to the heart of the matter

Following are 5 tips for women to follow to reduce the chance of injury (or worse) while driving:

Sit as far away from the steering wheel as you can and don’t put anything (children, pets, whatever) between you and the air bag Leave nothing loose in the car that you wouldn’t want to hit you in the face if you’re in a crash or rollover, and that includes the low fat, double foam, half caf, extra tall coffee. Keep your gas tank as full as you can so you can drive to safety or for help without having to stop, and to use for heat, light and information if you break down or get stuck in a storm. Stash an extra car key in something that you always carry so you won’t be locked out because you left the primary keys inside the car, or on a restaurant table. If there’s a pregnant woman in the car, keep the speed as low as possible to reduce the potential danger to the unborn child.
There’s a lot more to car safety than those famous, and largely useless, car crash ratings. And you don’t have to be in a crash to get injured. Being in a hard braking situation is much more common and these do not even make it to a statistical chart as no one reports them. But just look at your own driving life – do the math and it is certain hard braking will come out far ahead of crashes. Being hit in the head from behind by a large library book might just knock you out and increase the chance that more danger will befall. Finding yourself alone in a dark parking lot without your car keys is a seriously scary thought.

Women can easily take precautions like the ones listed above to improve their chances of sustaining major harm whether they are in hard braking situations or in fender benders or in more serious crashes. This is just a sampling of the advice that is available.

Many pregnant women who are afflicted with acne just don’t know what to do about it. Many feel very bad about it to the point of hysteria, but should they? This article looks closely at how and why acne affects pregnant women and what they can do about it… as well as what they should not do when afflicted with acne.

If you are a woman and you are pregnant you don’t have to take or do anything to get rid of acne. Lots of pregnant women get afflicted with acne as a side effect of the pregnancy. While there are acne solutions that might help, for lots of pregnant women the acne can’t be gotten rid of, no matter what kind of acne cream, lotion or pill they take. They will have to endure until they give birth and allow few more weeks for the acne to start clearing. And in most cases, the acne clears without them using any cream or lotion.

But if you must take any acne cream, lotion or pill when you are pregnant, it’s important to seek the guide of your doctor first. As a pregnant woman there are certain drugs that you are not allowed to take, for your safety and the safety of your unborn child. You will be surprised that even topical acne lotions might have side effects for you as a pregnant women. So, ensure that you talk to your doctor about this before going ahead to take any acne treatment when you are pregnant. As they say, it’s always safe to err on the side of caution.

As a pregnant woman, no matter what any acne cream or lotion promoter says, it will take time for you to begin seeing results when using any acne treatment. I still see lots of acne creams or lotions being advertised as quick-fixes for acne, but that’s not really true. You should expect to start seeing results after at least two weeks to as long as eight weeks.

Also, while undergoing acne treatment as a pregnant woman, there are instances when your skin will actually look worse before it begins looking better. When this happens you shouldn’t panic. Instead, take it in your stride because it’s bound to happen and it will be a thing of the past when you give birth eventually. So, it’s good to be aware of what to expect before starting any acne treatment or using any acne cream, lotion or pill.

Statistics coming from the American Diabetes Association indicate that more or less four percent of expectant mothers gets to experience gestational diabetes. Gestational diabetes occurs when pregnant women who never have had diabetes before experience high blood sugar levels during their pregnancy, particularly at the latter period. Estimates put around 135,000 cases of pregnant women having gestational diabetes in the US every year.

Women who experience gestational diabetes are not likely to develop Type 2 diabetes. Gestational diabetes is occasioned by the inability of pregnant women to put into their system insulin which their bodies produce naturally. The pregnancy-related hormones they produce make them insulin resistant. It is under this condition that expectant mothers get to develop high levels of blood sugar, which is also known as hyperglycemia.

It is normal for women with gestational diabetes to be treated even while they are pregnant. Birth defects linked to gestational diabetes, or to diabetes contracted prior to pregnancy, are not usual. Thus there may no need for much concern for babies going through this condition. The problem, however, can arise when gestational diabetes is allowed to go on untreated. The mother has excess blood sugar, which means the unborn child is receiving more than her or his share of fat and energy. This condition can lead to macrosomia, or fat baby.

Regardless of how most people may think that being fat is indicative of the baby being healthy, a child who is too fat has problems when the time for his birth comes. He might be too big to fit through his mother’s birth canal. Such a condition will almost always require delivery by cesarean section. Moreover, overweight babies often experience breathing problems and may eventually, if they stay obese, develop Type 2 diabetes themselves.

It is good, however, that treatment for gestational diabetes is readily available. Doctors normally prescribe doses of insulin for the mother to restore her blood sugar to normal levels. Women who want pregnancy can prevent having gestational diabetes by preparing for it physically. The physical regimen includes regular exercise, weight loss, and taking a healthy diet. Women who are planning for pregnancy should also find the Glycemic Index useful. The Glycemic Index helps people identify which foods to avoid to prevent diabetes or for diabetics to help them contain the disease.

Pregnant women need, and should follow, doctor’s advice with respect to exercise and diet, particularly with regards to carbohydrate intake. Even before they get pregnant, women would always do well to consult their doctors on matters concerning their weight and on ways of preventing diabetes. Professional advice is important for women to avoid complications during their pregnancy.

A pregnant woman who gets a diagnosis for gestational diabetes, as well as her child, has little risks of developing Type 2 diabetes. Gestational diabetes can be treated easily and is not alarming. Pregnant women can access plenty of medical care for their condition. What they need to do is follow what their doctors say.

Maternity Seat Belt – Whatever the invention or creation that a scientist sets about working upon, you can rest assured that the piece of equipment or gadget involved with the experiment will be given the scientists undivided attention where – priorities lie with the safety issues before any introduction outside the doors of the laboratory.

Sadly, scientists are rarely recognized for the work that they do by the public. Experiments can take month`s even years – where scientists continuously work with their heads down to give us some new toy of some sort etc.

Inventor Steinar Kruse.in 1989 brought to our attention one of the most useful accessories to be used by pregnant women that was to ensure their safety whilst motoring, and that was the Maternity seat belt

Women are now taking to the road with peace of mind and contentment – knowing that the measures taken regarding the Maternity seat belt has been bettered than the existing seat belts used by expectant mothers.

In today`s modern world, the Maternity Seat Belt is a repositioning device designed to hold the lap portion of the vehicle`s existing seat belt low over the pregnant woman`s upper thighs, which is the suggested position for the seat belt. If this particular design by Steinar Kruse had not been sanctioned, then the discomfort could prove to be unbearable for the pregnant woman while driving

However, much controversy and debate has taken place regarding the danger risks involved for the safety of the unborn child, because of how – even a positioned seat belt can tend to rise up to settle on the abdomen. The numbers in pregnant women who have voiced their concern and questioned this matter is quite high. For fear of harming their unborn baby – women tend to stress themselves over all the confusion as to whether they should or should not wear seat belts. Stress is not good throughout pregnancy – so try to relax and speak with an expert.

Maternity seat belts can be purchased in most leading stores. Other options can be to take a trip to a mother and baby group gathering and speak with other expectant mothers who may well be able to help put your mind at rest – with their own personal experiences. The Maternity seat belt was invented with safety in mind – so it may be wise to clunk click every trip. If you have any doubts then talk to your doctor.
