… Not the other way around. I always hear people saying stuff like, It’s wrong to hit a woman, even in self-defense … you shouldn’t square up to a woman as though she were a man … that’s not how you speak to a lady … etc.
Why the special treatment? I agree that it’s wrong to go off on a person and beat them, regardless of their size. Conflicts should be resolved through words and nothing more. But the way I see it, if you walk up to a bear, kick it in the *** and expect that it won’t retaliate simply because you’re smaller, you’re in for quite the surprise, aren’t you? Shouldn’t women respect men because they’re bigger and stronger, as opposed to men respecting women for being less powerful physically?
Also, since when did having a ****** have anything to do with the way a another human being should speak to you? Why is it wrong for a man to speak to a woman in a certain way? Since when do words hurt more coming from a man lmao?
I’m a woman, ya professional moron. Note the name Ashley to the left side of the screen. ;)
I AM FEMALE. FEMALE! Take note, dear GAWD!

I’ve been looking up some self defense videos, and want to hear from the people who’ve experienced an unexpected attack from a dangerous stranger, and how did you escape? please elaborate, what was going through your mind? where were you? what did you do to escape?

Mike asked:

Also, why do women deny that men are victims of non-self-defense violence, and why do women think it’s hilarious when a woman intentionally hurts a man?

Furthermore, men aren’t allowed to hit back when a woman hits him, so why do people think that a man is a sissy when he says that he is a victim of domestic violence?

a man and a woman are arguing, the man suggests to wrestle and whoever lands on top gets to talk, woman thinks its a bad idea goes to neighbors house, man follows, verbally assaults her and keeps following her around after being asked to leave her alone. woman hits man due to words being said, man throws woman up against a house breaking the siding of house, then throws woman on the ground causing her to black out, woman wakes up to man on top of her still and out of confusion and being afraid of the situation tries to poke out his eye, man bites woman on the four arm leaving a 4 inch by 4 inch bruise of teeth marks, man is lifted off of her by the man neighbor. the two walk away leaving woman with woman neighbor. woman ask woman neighbor to grab son from crib to spend the night at neighbors house, man doesn’t let anyone in the house to get the boy, woman goes and attempts but man grabs woman by waist and throws her again, woman gets away runs in house and locks glass door, man throws his elbow through glass to break in. woman comes out of house swinging in fear of childs life now too. boy is taken to neighbors house, man is still holding on to woman and woman is repetitively yelling stop, let me go, get away from me and hitting man in the face takes 3 men to pull them off of each other. cops are called, man goes to jail, woman stays home and waits for court hearing for dv in the 4th degree. woman came out with concussion and mild eye sight loss and man comes out with cuts on arm from glass door and a red eye. btw man was heavily intoxicated and is military.
thank you all for your comments, however it doesn’t make me feel safe to know a trained military man can do all that to a woman with reasons out of order, and the woman faces charges

Steve Lane asked:

Controversy over the use of tasers by law enforcement offers continues to brew with a number of highly publicized death-by-taser incidents reported in the last several months. Included is the death of a Polish man in the Vancouver International Airport in October, 2007.

Robert Dziekanski was in the process of immigrating to Canada from his native Poland. Dziekanski arrived in Canada speaking very little English, and was forced to wait in customs for over 10 hours. Apparently, no interpreter was available to help Dziekanski through this very confusing process. He became increasingly agitated over his treatment and his inability to communicate with airport officials. Police were eventually called to deal with the disgruntled traveler. Officers spoke with Mr. Dziekanski (again in English) for less than 30 seconds before subduing Mr. Dziekanski with a taser.

Tasers are lauded around North America as a more humane way to deal with threatening individuals than firearms. There have been, however, a number of fatalities from the use of these devices. Unfortunately, Dziekanski became one of those statistics when the shock delivered by a taser stopped his heart and led to his death.

This begs the question: should the general public have access to tasers for self-defense?

Almost every state in the U.S. (approximately 43 of 50) allows the sale and limited use of tasers for self-defense. Even as the controversy surrounding their use boiled, a new taser was introduced into the market in mid-2007. While tasers for personal use have been around for over a decade, this most recent release was a so-called “designer” version, marketed largely at women. The C2 Taser has been described as “eye-catching” and a little bit less “Dirty Harry” than the typical police-issue variety. It slightly resembles an electric razor and is small enough to carry easily in the palm of the hand or tucked carefully in a handbag.

Most experts agree that when used correctly and carefully, tasers are a very effective method for subduing a would-be attacker. Women tend to be more vulnerable targets for personal crimes than men. It makes sense for manufacturers to target female consumers. Many women who do not feel comfortable when carrying a gun for personal protection report feeling at ease with a taser close at hand. There are other difficulties associated with firearms as well. Guns are typically harder to access, more difficult to purchase and not necessarily carried legally on one’s person. It’s not a stretch to see why tasers are gaining popularity in the self-defense product market.

Many experts say that comparing the use of tasers by law enforcement to using one for self-defense is like comparing apples to oranges. While the weapon may be the same, the issues surrounding their use are completely different. Police are being criticized of reaching tasers too quickly rather than mediating or using other less violent tactics to subdue a criminal. A civilian facing the imminent threat of an attack doesn’t have the option of “talking things out” with an attacker. In fact, many experts concede that tasers are a highly effective means of protecting oneself from an imminent attack. When used correctly, a taser delivers an electrical shock (50,000 volts in the case of the C2) that temporarily disables an attacker, allowing time to escape the situation.

While the controversy over the use of tasers by law enforcement won’t end any time soon, tasers are growing in popularity amongst the general public as the self-defense product of choice. More convenient than a gun, and more effective than mace or pepper spray, tasers may emerge as the number one self-defense weapon in the next decade.

Mike asked:

After all, THEY are the ones who were unfaithful and abusive, and they are directly responsible for me never being married.

So why are they talking smack to me? THEY are the bad guys.

NOTE: I was forced to re-post this, because it was falsely reported. It IS a question. It is unfortunate that I am being victimized again, after already surviving non-self-defense violence at the hands of women.

Mark Easterday asked:

There is no shortage of danger out there in today’s world. Whether you live in small-town America or the big bad city, crime seems like a permanent fixture in society. It’s no wonder, then, that tools of self-defense have become one of fastest-growing items on people’s shopping lists. And at the top of the list, for both everyday civilians and even cops, are stun guns.

Stun guns work by zapping an attacker with a high electrical voltage. Usually, the “gun” is more of a wand, something you wield in your hand, which has two metal prongs at the end. The charge emanates from these prongs, so you’ll want to touch the bad guy with those. Then zap! watch as the stun gun immobilizes him or her.

No worries, though, on whether or not you severely harmed the attacker. Stun guns are designed to incapacitate somebody, not to kill them, so the charge that they put out has more bark than bite. Stun guns have just the right amount of bark to do the trick.

They work by completely discombobulating a person’s nervous system. As you probably learned in high school biology class, the human nervous system includes our brain, spinal cord, and nerves, and it works by passing along electrical signals from the brain to all parts of our body. It’s what helps us to speak and see, and our nervous system allows us to move our muscles at will, as well as involuntarily.

The stun gun stops all that. The energy pulse causes a person’s muscles to go practically haywire, contracting at a very high movement rate. All of this muscle activity causes the muscles to put out lactic acid. Remember the last workout or jog you had, when your muscles started to burn? That was lactic acid, which makes it hard for your muscles to do anymore work.

The electricity from the stun gun also causes a “blackout” in the whole nervous system, so the messages between the brain, spinal cord, and nerves get interrupted. The total end result from the stun gun is a person who can’t move their muscles, who loses their balance and their bearing, and remains ‘out of it’ and harmless for several minutes afterward.

Of course, like anything else, the stun gun has a different effect depending on the person it is used on. Some people may go down like a sack of potatoes after only a second of touching the stun gun, while another attacker my need five seconds of exposure to the stun gun to be incapacitated. There is a direct relationship between the time a person is exposed to the stun gun, and the effects of the stun gun. In other words, the longer you hold the stun gun to someone, the more debilitated they become. Once a person is down, and you cease and desist with the weapon, the effects will eventually wear off.

Unlike other forms of electricity, the stun gun’s power cannot be passed by touching the person being hit, or by standing in a puddle with them. That is good news for you.

When buying a stun gun, you should consider its voltage and size. Of course, if you’re carrying the stun gun in a small purse, you’ll need a small stun gun. But try to buy the highest voltage stun gun possible.
