Women’s Safety and the Taser

Personal protection is very important, especially for women. Predators, thieves and stalkers are just some of the people that women need to worry about when they are out. These types of people hide out waiting for the chance to catch a woman alone. The most common places are walking home in both broad daylight and in the dark at night, leaving the grocery store and walking to your car in mall parking lots. While these are not all of the hot spots for foul play they are some of the most common.

Many women think it is hard to protect themselves but the truth is, with the right tools and knowledge, you can scare off dangerous people as mentioned above. One of the most popular tools that women use today are taser guns. These are ideal for any situation and they are easy to conceal so your predator will not be aware that you have it. This makes it better to take him by surprise as he or she will not be expecting this type of response from you.

You need to remember that your attacker will be expecting some sort of fighting response from you so if they are not aware that you have a taser then you can catch the attacker off guard and give yourself a chance to get away to get help. One of the great benefits of taser guns is the fact that you can take down a person that is much larger than you are. You also do not need to be up close in order to taser the person as these taser guns work up to 15 feet away just as well as close contact.

When you taser a person you temporarily immobilize then with an electrical shock. This causes the persons muscles to freeze up and most likely fall down to the ground. These effects of taser guns are not long lasting but it gives you the edge you need to get away. The person being tasered will experience temporary intense pain but keep in mind that this will not last long. It is meant to give you time to get away from your attacker.

Once the taser is turned off, the pain subsides and the person will regain their composure slowly and be back up and moving around again., The movement will be a bit slow at first but it will be just a matter of minutes before he or she is on their feet. There is no real damage done to the person and as mentioned above, once it is turned off, the pain and stress subside rather quickly.

If you are considering getting something for personal protection then look into taser guns. They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes so that they can be used by anyone. Women of all ages, especially seniors would benefit greatly from owning their own personal taser gun. They are easy to conceal and give you instant protection from all sorts of attacker.,

By: Jessie Diamond

About the Author:

I am a Senior Citizen Lady who has been through and thrashed out of the other side of an extremely difficult family tragedy. Now, after all the financial muddle this beautiful country is in I find myself in the position of having to replenish my income. I have learned about computers, have a website up and running (just) and frankly I would like to assure any other 65+ Ladies that it is possible to pull oneself up and learn to do something new, even at this Advanced Age. Haha! It has not, I must say, been without major frustration.

I would like to advise and inform people, especially women, how to be observant, careful, and aware of their surroundings and always have a way to protect yourself, and have a plan.

Most women are less than eager to get trained in self-defense but we all need some tips on simple ways to avoid becoming a victim and repel instead of attract attackers. Fortunately, sometimes the simplest things work the best.

Attackers prefer victims go quietly so no one notices what is going on and gets a description of them resulting in their arrest. Now that we know what they are looking for, we can be the opposite. Here are a couple things to note:

Nine out of ten people gasp and hold their breath when startled or scared so attackers have the advantage already Making noise startles the attacker (turnabout is fair play) and calls attention to your situation

When you gasp and hold your breath, the adrenaline that is automatically produced to deal with stress freezes you quicker and longer, and that’s when the majority of people get hurt. Adrenaline is produced to give you the fight or flight option. It helps you think clearly, run faster and strike harder under stress. In order for it to circulate and help instead of hinder you, you must be breathing. This is where making noise comes in…

Yelling is a great way to make noise and get your adrenaline circulating at the same time because you expel all the air in your lungs and automatically take another breath. Viola! Circulation, adrenaline, strength, speed, clear thought, a startled attacker and everyone looking your direction! Notice I said, “yelling” and not “screaming?” That is because screaming is weak and defensive and yelling is strong and offensive. The three best things to yell: Stop, 911, Back Off!

Other great ways to make noise:

Honking your horn Sounding your vehicle alarm Throwing or knocking over something loud (like metal)

Honking your horn is probably not what comes to mind first when you are startled unless you are startled by another driver, right? But just think about how much attention a honked horn gets…and that is the idea after all; even if it is about your personal safety and not about your car.

We know that most people **** the sound of vehicle alarms and rarely even consider that something is being broken into or stolen but again, think how many people are alerted by the sound. You can be sleeping at night with your vehicle in the garage or driveway and sound your alarm if an intruder breaks in.

You know the movies where someone is running from a bad guy through the kitchen of a restaurant, knocking over metal tables and shelves behind them? Not only does this make an instant obstacle course but it makes a heck of a lot of noise in the process. Maybe you are in a store and rake your arm down a shelf pulling products onto the floor to make noise and draw attention.

There is nothing safe or heroic about going quietly with an attacker in the hopes he or she will not hurt you. In fact, it can easily cost you your life. If someone wants to take you against your will, their intention is to hurt you.

Teach your kids this safety tip too. I can’t tell you how difficult it is to get some children to practice yelling in my Safe Kids Class! They have been programmed that yelling gets them in trouble and they need to know it can get them out of trouble as well.

Remember attackers want quiet, uninterrupted time with their victim and the longer you are with them, the more power they have. Make a lot of noise and be more trouble than you’re worth.

And ALWAYS trust your gut feelings to know what to do because sometimes submission is the best option. A good question to ask yourself is, “How is the best way to handle this situation?” Your brain will answer whatever you ask it. Make sure and ask good, empowering questions to get the same kind of answers.

By: Kelly Rudolph

About the Author:

Hi again. In the first article we discussed the HOW, WHEN, WHERE, WHY and WHO – the 5 important questions for self defense.

This article looks at the importance awareness for your personal safety.

Women call it their intuition; men are a little less elegant and have a “gut feeling”. The reality is that we get these signals all the time; it’s just a question of listening and trusting this feeling.

Does this place feel safe? Do I feel OK with these people? Should I drive or walk this way home?
If you listen, you will feel an answer. It may be subtle, such as a feeling of slight discomfort, or as obvious as a chill, or the hairs standing up on your arm.

Have you ever looked at someone, and feel they that give you the creeps? Have you ever walked into as room and felt the energy was just a bit off.

Do you know why you would buy something, or are attracted to one person and not another?

We are constantly picking up on signals, but we can be fooled. We are also more likely to trust an attractive person, than someone we consider to be unattractive. This is a big trap. There have been several interesting psychological studies, which show how we can be manipulated by certain people.

So where does this leave your intuition? It’s just a matter of stepping back for a moment and notice if your intuition is overriding your initial thought. After all most conman and dodgy types rely on us to be impulsive.

So what do you do if your friend agrees to jump in a car with some new guys and you have a bad feeling about it? This is a tricky situation, you don’t want to abandon your friend, but it just feels bad.

You have to take care of yourself. Your friend for some reason has thrown caution to the wind. Remember that jumping in to save a drowning person isn’t a good idea if you can’t swim! If you refuse to go she may change her mind. It’s better for your friend to be angry than one or both of you finding yourselves in a tricky situation.

You must also use your conscious awareness. Notice who is around, do they look threatening? Do they appear out of place?

Here is an awareness challenge for you. Turn the lights off in your home and learn to move around without crashing into walls, tables etc. If you can do this successfully, you may just be able to quietly evade an intruder. Treat it as a game, it’s kind of fun.

The 2 big impediments to awareness and intuition are intoxication and not being in the present. If you are waiting for a bus, how will you be aware of people around you if you are day dreaming? If you are drunk how will you make good decisions?

Relax, enjoy yourself, Stay Safe.

By: Ian Newton

About the Author:

Things I Teach to Every Woman I Know. Written by a 250 lb Man By Mr Ed Maisonet My name is Ed Maisonet and my goal is to remind everyone of their first and most basic function…Self-Preservation. The need for self / survival defense awareness and training has somehow been left off of life’s basic skills list. No longer can we leave our preventative safety in the hands of others…We must educate ourselves with the basic information available with regard to life threatening situations and the bad guys that may come with them. Too often we look to others to save the day. With some invested time and practice everyone can prepare themselves for those unexpected situations that can change our lives in the blink of an eye. About the author: I am currrently a Krav Maga Self-Defense Instructor. A system which was developed for the Israeli Defense Forces and has been expanded for civilian use. I train and teach at John Jay College in Manhattan (KravMagaFederation.com), under the supervision of Master Krav Maga Instructor Rhon Mizrachi, who is a life long practitioner of the art and protégé of Grand Master Haim Zut. I also have my own school located in Staten Island (LifeDefenseInc.com), New York. I served in the United States Navy and participated in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. I’ve been an armed guard with the responsibilities of protecting property, currency deliveries and the transfer of precious metals and stones. I held the position of driver b…/b

Women are well known for their powers of intuition, but sometimes this power seems to be turned off. So how can you reclaim this power and use it to protect yourself.

Intuition. Self belief and self power work hand in hand. In fact any skill we have is either validated or invalidated by our experiences in life.

An otherwise confident person can have their self assuredness reduced to rubble by accepting the opinions of others. Children are particularly vulnerable. They can be emotionally scarred by parents or siblings, by groups of hurtful children or teachers whose skills in personal development are lacking.

Your intuition is a gift, but if you are told you are stupid for having such feelings then soon you will push that skill into the background. It is this skill that is so important to help you make good life decisions yet so often it is neglected because another inner voice says don’t be ridiculous. It is high time you allowed your intuition to reassert itself, and for you to start to trust your own judgement again.

Trust is the issue.

Trust is eroded over time, school work families, all of these can build us up or pull us down. Different people will experience intuition in different ways, but the most common response is the classic “Gut Feeling”

My message to you is to trust your gut. When you get that creepy feeling in your stomach, pay attention. Like any human response, we have to learn to work with it. And in order to do so we need to test it and see the results for ourselves.

It is important to give recognition to your intuition when it is right. That guy who seemed too good to believe, you kicked yourself for rejecting his dinner offer, but later you find he can be violent when he drinks. Say thanks to your inner knowing.

The more you work with these feeling the more you frequently it will be right. It is very important not to override this feeling. If it doesn’t feel right to get into the car with these strangers don’t do it. If someone gives you directions and you feel uneasy, go another way. Trust and believe in your own feelings.

Sure you will be wrong on occasions, and it may cost you a fun date. But you have to look at the big picture. Your intuition only has to save you from one dangerous situation in your entire life for it to be valuable for you.

And its not just about violence. Not getting on the back of the motor cycle with a rider you’re not sure about, or even not taking a particular route home, or even knowing when you have had enough to eat. Learn to trust yourself and use this feeling to protect yourself.

By: Ian Newton

About the Author:
