If you are serious about losing some weight for good, there are some weight loss tips that can help you attain success. With some devotion and hard work, you will be able to lose pounds and keep them off!

Weight loss begins in your mind

First of all, strengthen your determination about losing pounds and getting healthy. Keep reminding yourself that this is what you want to do for YOU, not for anyone else who may have mentioned that you could stand to lose a pound or two. Build up your confidence with self-talk. Tell yourself that you can do it and you will do it!

Have a reminder that will nag you if you go off your diet. This could be a photo of your overweight self on your desk or a smaller size dress or pants hanging in the closet where you see it every day. The point is to remind you of what you really want to do – lose pounds!

Be easy on yourself

Losing pounds does not mean that you will be miserable if you do it the right way. Get enough sleep because studies show that lack of sleep causes you to gain pounds. Many weight loss specialists recommend increasing water intake since a person may think they’re hungry, but they are really thirsty. Water will fill you up too, so drink a full glass of water before eating each meal.

If you eat out, try to order something that is not laden with fat and eat half of the meal and take the rest home for the next day. Also, if you have a craving that just won’t stop, be easy on yourself and give in if you have to. Just don’t give in too many times or you will slow your weight loss down. Many experts also say to stop drinking diet or regular soda and juice. Opt for water and whole pieces of fruit instead.

Tips to keep going

You might want to reward yourself when you meet a goal like losing 10 pounds. Buy yourself new pants, a DVD, but do not reward yourself with food items.

Do you constantly struggle when you try to shift those unwanted pounds and do you really believe that you can lose weight? Before you even start to make healthy changes to your diet, make sure you are mentally prepared to lose weight.

Visualize Your Weight Loss Success

You have to be able to visualize yourself as a slimmer and happier person. You need to reinforce the belief that you can lose weight and keep it off with positive mental images. If you can not visualize yourself succeeding, then it is going to be difficult to have the necessary belief to achieve your weight loss goals. Think about how good you will look and how great you will feel when you have shed those unwanted pounds. Dare to dream on a daily basis and visualize your weight loss success.

How Do You See Yourself?

When you look in the mirror, what do you see? Is it a winner, someone who makes thing happen, or a tired and defeated person who drifts along through life without really ever being truly fulfilled? You have to start seeing yourself in a completely new light, a positive self-image is essential if you want to realise your goals. If you can’t ever see yourself losing weight and keeping it off, then how can you actually expect to lose weight? Start believing in yourself a little more, tell yourself that you can lose weight and back up your positive thinking with consistent action. Start thinking and acting like a fit, slim, happy and content person, you have to develop a successful mindset. Replace negative thoughts and images with positive pictures reflecting your future success. If you can dream something and believe it, then you can go on and achieve it. You have to start thinking of yourself as a winner, the kind of person you want to be.

Your Success Is Guaranteed

What would you attempt in life if you knew that you couldn’t fail, in other words if your success was guaranteed? We are only limited in life by the limitations we set for ourselves in our own mind. We all have the capability to achieve greatness, and should aim as high as we can. Shoot for the moon, and you will end up among the stars. Stay positive, set goals, take action and never give up, your success is then guaranteed.

Become a daydream believer and start visualizing a successful future for yourself. You are a winner, a truly talented, unique and special person, and it’s about time that you started realising it.

Is exercise a necessary part of a weight loss program? YES! Simply put, those who do not exercise do not lose very much weight. And when they stop taking the medications they usually gain all the weight back – sometimes even more. We all know someone who can eat as much as they would like and never exercise and still they are skinny, but we are not those people. Exercise will need to become part of your everyday life. I recommend building up to an hour per day. If you do not currently exercise, you will need to start slow. The ideal situation would be to join a gym and have a one-on-one session with a trainer to develop an exercise program. They will be able to tailor the program to your needs. If you have knee, hip, or back problems they will also be able to help you to protect these areas from further injury.

If you do not have access to a gym, I would recommend a walking program. Begin with a 15 minute walk every day for the first week. The next week add 5 minutes to your time until you have built up to a 60 minute walk every day. Along with the exercise you need to consume products that have little or no calories. These include fruits such as the African Mango. The African Mango extract can help suppress appetite, while you continue to work on your weight loss program. Never underestimate how powerful this little fruit can be. There are some that might try to convince you to take what are known as appetite suppressants. Just bear in mind that a product will not have the same effect on each person so if it works much more effectively on someone else that you there is no need to throw in the towel. The key to successful weight loss is diet and exercise.

We may not like to admit it, but we talk to ourselves all the time (even more than we realise). Our brains are like sponges, they soak up all the information taken in by our senses, along with all the things we say out loud and in our head. Try and imagine your brain as your on-board computer that is constantly taking in data. It will run a lot better if is fed a diet of positivity, unfortunately this is not usually the case. A lot of the information we take in (from friends, family, work colleagues and the media) is negative, this can have a profound effect on our attitude.

Do you find yourself talking negatively a lot, and is that voice inside your head constantly knocking you down and telling you what you can’t do? A computer is only as good as the software and programs that it runs on, and your brain is no different. The good news is though, just like a computer, your brain can be re-programmed with positive influences and self talk.

The Effects Of Self Talk On Weight Loss

The way you talk to yourself can make or break your weight loss efforts. Using negative self talk will only hold you back, you need to identify it quickly and weed it out. Do you find yourself saying or thinking anything similar to the following:

I just can’t lose weight.

I don’t have the time to exercise.

I can’t stick to a diet.

I’ve never been able to exercise.

I just can’t help myself when it comes to dessert.

I have no control over my eating.

I just can’t say no to second helpings.

I’ll try and exercise tomorrow

I can’t stop snacking at night

I am never going to lose weight.

These statements are all negative and involve you telling yourself what you can’t do. Your brain will believe anything that you tell it, this is why self talk is powerful.

Re-programme Your Self Talk

Now is the time to turn a corner, your past does not have to determine your future success. Change your self talk and thinking, then your results will change. Stop telling yourself what you can’t do and start telling yourself what you can and will do.

Start using positive self talk and statements such as:

I am going to lose weight.

I am getting fitter and healthier every day.

I love to exercise.

I love to eat healthy meals.

I am in control of my portion sizes.

I am looking better than ever before.

Exercise is a priority in my life.

I can and will lose weight.

I feel great and full of energy.

Positive self talk will install self-belief, and that is a great thing to have. You can literally move mountains with self belief backed up with positive action. Start listening to what you say out loud and to yourself. Extinguish any negative self-talk or thoughts, the minute they enter your head. Identify negative self talk, re-programme your self talk and take positive action today.
