Women's Safety Information

Getting to the heart of the matter

Category: Home Security

Our homes are our havens and when we are in our homes we need to feel safe and secure. Locks help assure nobody comes in and gas and smoke detectors help protect us from within our homes assuring that if a gas leak or fire occurs we know about it soon enough to get to safety. Everybody should have a gas detector and a smoke detector in their home; it’s as simple as that. If for some reason you don’t have a gas detector or your gas detector is old then perhaps you could use a little help in what to look for when buying a gas detector.

First of all, check to see how many gases the gas detector can detect. Most people just need a gas detector capable of detecting carbon monoxide however if you live in an area where you may be potentially exposed to more gases you will certainly want a gas detector capable of picking up all of those. Just make sure you know what you need so you will know what to shop for.

Another important aspect of a home gas detector is battery life. You will want a detector that runs on batteries and that has a long life. If the battery life is too short and your gas detector dies then it won’t be protecting you. Make sure your home gas detector has an alarm, light, or something of that nature that goes off when the battery is dying so that you will know to replace it.

If you live near a landfill, refinery, power plant, or anything of that nature then a Minirae gas detector system will alert you at any time there are unsafe levels of gas in the air. There is nothing wrong with taking precautions to ensure you and your family are safe and RAE Systems has a variety of gas detectors for your home that will allow you to sleep well at night.

In this day and age we should not rely on companies and our government to let us know when there are unsafe levels of gases in the air. Instead, we should take some responsibility as well and have a gas detector in our home to help us stay safe at all times.

A homeless woman who sneaked into a man’s house and lived undetected in his closet for a year was arrested in Japan after he became suspicious when food mysteriously began disappearing.

Police found the 58-year-old woman Thursday hiding in the top compartment of the man’s closet and arrested her for trespassing, police spokesman Hiroki Itakura from southern Kasuya town said Friday.

The resident of the home installed security cameras that transmitted images to his mobile phone after becoming puzzled by food disappearing from his kitchen over the past several months.

One of the cameras captured someone moving inside his home Thursday after he had left, and he called police believing it was a burglar. However, when they arrived they found the door locked and all windows closed.

We searched the house … checking everywhere someone could possibly hide, Itakura said. When we slid open the shelf closet, there she was, nervously curled up on her side.
The woman told police she had no place to live and first sneaked into the man’s house about a year ago when he left it unlocked.

She had moved a mattress into the small closet space and even took showers, Itakura said, calling the woman neat and clean.

Will people who are sucessful not want to affiliate with me because I don’t have my own home?
Is it a sign of unsucess.

I am in grad school for the second time. Dropped out the first time, so I am trying again. It will be a while before I can get a house.

Would a guy not date me because he feels I can’t provide him the financialy security and stability he seeks because I don’t have a home?

Research question: Social Security payments, as small as they are, clearly are not enough to live on. However, are most seniors (65+) collecting more each month than what they contributed to Social Security during their career? I tend to think this may be the case with inflation and the fact that not many women worked outside the home in the 50′s and 60′s
yet most are eligible for Social Security at age 65.

The most clear, well thought out and fact based answer = 10 points. Thanks
Dogbett..Thank you for clearing this up for me. I am 36 with a family and feel like the seniors in my community are angry with young families and aren’t interested in paying taxes for education. I am trying to understand their problems. I feel like a lot of seniors have the mentally of I got mine and don’t want to contribute outside of their own agenda; This makes it very difficult for young families – They b*tch b*tch about SS etc and dont seem to care about the future. I think it’s much harder on young families now than it was back in the day. Not ALL seniors are like this so i don’t mean to offend or label a whole group. However, MANY in my community are

Where will you escape Umm Luma? Await the rage, the slaughter and the murder.

The threat was signed by the Brigades of Death, a Sunni extremist group. Like similar organizations, it claims Iraqi Shiites are conspiring with the Americans.

But Umm Luma had no political affiliations and neither do they, her relatives said. They said they had no enemies.

The family fled nonetheless, even though no one — least of all Umm Luma — thought the note-writers would kill a woman. The false sense of security led Umm Luma home after a week.

On September 16, she left the house to buy bread for breakfast and a car drove up. Someone inside called her name.

Are you Umm Luma? asked a man in the car.

Yes, dear. What would you like? Umm Luma responded.

The first bullet ripped through her arm, knocking her to the ground, said Rafal. The man, who couldn’t have been older than 18, then exited the car and shot Umm Luma four more times.

I saw my mother on the street. I picked up her brains with my own hands and wrapped it, Osama said, repeating the words, picked up her brains.

This woman needs a home. She has inoperable cancer and is on Social Security. The trailer she was purchasing was owned by her cousin, and it is now a FEMA trailer. She was not sick prior to the storm, but she has a tumor around her heart, esophagus, and lungs…but chemo has it in remission. Her doctors assure her the tumor will recur, that is a given. Her problem is she can’t get work after having chemo and heart surgery, gall bladder surgery….and she is trying to get well. She does not want to return to the FEMA trailer, because she can’t breath for the formaldehyde. She can’t get hospice yet, because she isn’t confined to a bed. She doesn’t qualify for personal care homes, she is too young. She can’t afford Home Health Care because of 600.00/month SS. She is scared of living in low income housing because she can’t care for herself during treatment. She is only supposed to live another year or so. I just need information. Where can she live?

After retiring, I went to the Social Security office to apply for Social Security. The woman behind the counter asked me for my driver’s license to verify my age. I looked in my pockets and realized I had left my wallet at home. I told the woman that I was very sorry, but I would have to go home and come back later.

The woman said, Unbutton your shirt. So I opened my shirt revealing my curly silver hair. She said, That silver hair on your chest is proof enough for me, and she processed my Social Security application.

When I got home, I excitedly told my wife about my experience at the Social Security office.

She said, You should have dropped your pants… you might have gotten disability, too.
