It is never easy when you are trying your best to lose weight. Perhaps I can make it just a bit easier for you with some of my “No Excuse Tips”. They are pretty simple and can be a bit of fun as well.
I think we will all agree that losing weight is a serious issue however the methods we can use to lose the weight don’t have to always be serious. If you try to make your task of losing weight a bit more enjoyable, then it will not feel as if it is such a task. The more fun you can have with anything, will make it less difficult.
My tips will absolutely help you get rid of those calories, kilo’s or pounds for good. However, you know as well as I do you will have to work at having fun when it come to weight loss. Whilst it can certainly be fun, it is still a very serious process.
1. Smaller Portions
An easy one to kick off with is to reduce the portion size of the meals you are eating. Serve your meal up on a smaller plate.
Most of us will always eat what is served up to us on our plate. Unfortunately it can mean you’ll be eating past the feeling of hunger. Unless it is a fat free meal then you will be adding unnecessary calories to your meal.
2. Drink more water
Something as simple as drinking approximately eight good classes of water per day will keep the hunger pangs away and also keep you well hydrated. Quite often the body will mistake thirst for hunger and therefore you can place yourself in the dangerous position of eating more than you need to.
If you drink a glass of water before your meal it will reduce your feeling that you need to eat as much. Drinking the sugar free drinks like Diet Coke and Pepsi Max when you are feeling hungry is a good idea as well. They will tend to bloat you and reduce your hunger pangs.
3. Clear Out Bad Stuff
If you have foods in the cupboard that are not good for you then clear them out. Temptation is always harder if you only have to open the cupboard door and reach inside for those unhealthy foods in a moment of weakness. Next time you’re out shopping, make sure you write out a list before you go and stick to it. Impulse buying especially for those nasty calorie filled goodies is not good. Dieting for weight loss is widespread among men and women. What people will do to lose weight is almost unbelievable. But we need to realize that dieting can be healthy or unhealthy.
I knew a man in his thirties who looked like the famous Charles Atlas. He was muscular, had a v-shaped chest down to his waist, and was trim. Yet one day he decided he was 5-pounds overweight, and could not stand it. He insisted that his doctor put him on a severe diet, and his doctor finally did though he did not like it. The result was that a few months later this young man died of cancer. Did the diet trigger cancer already present, or was it something new? I don’t know, but I do know that diets can be harmful.
So some tips about dieting and weight loss can be helpful.
#1: To succeed at weight loss one must first be happy with them selves on the inside before the outside can be changed. If the inside person is unhappy with self then changing the outside will more likely fail.
#2: Keeping a food diary can be helpful. A daily record of your food intake can help you know if you are succeeding. It can also tell you where you may need to improve your diet.
#3: Do not weigh your self every day. That can be frustrating because the change each day is likely to be small, thus depressing, and suggest quitting. Weigh once or twice a week, for example, so you can see substantial change, therefore encouragement to keep on.
#4. Let family and friends know that you are dieting. They will be supportive and that will help. They will also admire you dieting rather than “shoving” unwanted food at you, tempting you to go off your diet.
#5: Lose weight with a partner. He or she can be a good friend, a spouse, or your children. Weight loss programs provide friends during the program, others in the same program, and that is good. But you need one person on the same dieting plan as you are, and exercise program, that you are comfortable with about the program. The two of you can discuss problems each may have, and encourage each other on a personal basis.
#6: Do not set impossible goals. It is healthier to lose weight gradually.
#7: Take time to learn about nutrition and exercise, and their affects on your body. Severe dieting and exercise can harm your health, thus having a good knowledge of nutrition, of nutrients, and how these and exercise working together affect your body, and your health will go about assuring a healthy and successful program.
#8: Be patient. Each person may lose weight by different amounts when on the same program. Do not let a slower weight loss depress and lead you to quitting. Patiently hand in there.
#9: Cut back on foods, dieting, gradually. If you cut back on foods drastically you may not get enough nutrients to stay healthy. And when you cut back drastically your metabolism may slow down preventing any real weight loss.
#10: If you set out to lose a few pounds you may not need to consult with your doctor
at the start of a weight loss program. But if you intend to lose any substantial amount of weight be sure and consult with your doctor first. Have the doctor design the parameters of dieting, and exercise, specifically for you. Consulting with your doctor and avoid health problems for you, and better assure a successful program.
Successful weight loss begins in the mind for it is there that patience and sticking to it starts. Without that commitment weight loss is doomed to failure.
Safe weight loss starts with a visit to your doctor. That visit can avoid harm, and assure better success.

The HCG Diet is next in my weight loss tips articles. I am amazed at how gullible people are and how they will talk about ‘diets’ without really understanding what they are. The Atkins Diet is one: although it works in the short term, if you continue with a high carbohydrate diet over the longer term you will suffer bad breath (halitosis) due to ketosis, constipation due to a lack of fiber and potentially serious damage to your cardiovascular system due to a lack of phytochemicals and antioxidants. In order to avoid these you must take the supplements recommended by Dr. Atkins: up to 63 of them if my mind is correct, and many that he marketed himself. That kind of throws the ‘impartiality’ aspect of his recommendations out the window. However, the point I am making is that diets such as Atkins and HCG are rarely properly researched by their adherents before they use them. That would be one of my major weight loss tips: check out the diet before you blindly take it. Take HCG: it isn’t even a diet!
The HCG Diet: What is it?
The so-called ‘HCG diet’ is a series of injections introduced hypodermically directly into your muscles. HCG is correctly known as Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, a substance produced by the placenta of pregnant women. Its function is to convert fat stored in the mother’s fat cells into energy for the growing fetus.
Fat is a carbohydrate, and can be used by your metabolism to generate energy once the carbohydrate in your diet has been used up. By injecting it directly into your muscle tissue, HCG can break down your fatty tissue into energy. Or so it was believed until recently.
It is now believed that HCG tells your brain that you are full, and need eat no more. In doing that, your metabolism will rapidly use up your carbohydrate stores, and when no more are available because you are not eating as much as normal, your metabolism turns to your fat stores for energy. In other words, the HCG diet is not a diet at all but a series of injections that work as an appetite suppressant.
Now you might think it doesn’t matter how it works so long as you lose weight, and frequently this assertion is correct. In fact, as far as I know there have been no reported side effects of the HCG diet, as we refer to it for the meantime, and so there appear to be no reason why you should not use it. So should I include it among my weight loss tips? If not, what would be the reasons?
One I can think of is that by having your appetite suppressed, you may also be eating too few nutrients, not only reducing your carbohydrate content but you may also suffer problems associated with your cardiovascular system – a common result with poor nutrition and a low antioxidant content in your diet. Nevertheless, nothing appears to have been reported although it is early days yet.
Quite frankly, I would not take these injections myself because using a hypodermic needle to lose weight seems extreme to me. I could not realistically include hypodermic treatment as one of my weight loss tips.
It is said to enable you to lose up to 5 lb a day – this is an unhealthy rate of weight loss, and your weight is one example of fastest isn’t best. 3 -4 pounds a week is OK, or even up to one pound a day, but 5 lb – that is equivalent to 20 sticks of margarine. Is it really healthy to lose that much every day – 140 a week?
Absolutely not, as far as I am concerned. However, while it appears to work it cannot be denied that the HCG diet should possibly be included in my range of slimming tips. It may be, but I do not recommend using HCG injections (or the so-called HCG diet) as a regular weight loss treatment. Decide for yourself.

The First and Most Important Rule of Teenage Weight Loss
1. Eat Healthily! Starvation is not the Solution
Every so often we hear about a teenage girl starving herself to reduce weight quickly in order to attend a special function, a dance or a prom. The person that I have in mind was about eighteen years old, let say her name was Brandi. Brandi wanted to loss approximately 22 pounds in 5 weeks to attend a wedding as a bridesmaid. She wanted to be noticed by by her friends, and in particular one boy.
During that time frame the most weight Brandi could have expect to lose and still maintain her health was about 10 to 12 pounds. In her effort and without getting her doctor’s advice decides to starve herself. So she went off and starved herself for until her desired weight was accomplished.
What happened? Later, I learned she lost about 8 pounds within 2 weeks. During that time she developed spots all over her face and body. Yes, you guessed right, Brandi was not able to attend the wedding as a bridesmaid. Brandi spent several weeks under the care of her doctor undoing the damage she had done to her body by starving herself. Teenagers, let this incident be a warning to you! “When we stop eating, we stop giving our bodies the nutrition it requires to stay healthy and it begins t malfunction.”
2. Healthy Eating is Better Than “Dieting”
The primary reason why adults experience weight problems and eventually become ill is due to them undertaking drastic measures or unhealthy weight loss diets during their teenage years. Teen Diets should not be considered until their physical growth has been completed This completion in teenagers usually occurs around 18 years of age.
Until that time teenage weight loss should not be considered without consulting your doctor. He will recommend dietitian who would be able to recommend a safe and healthy diet. A diet which would permit healthy growth and weight loss control.
3. Dieting Can Causes Health Problems in Teens?
Yes, dieting can cause health problems in teens. During your teen years, between the ages of 12-17 years, approximately 90% of your body frame structure and bone mass of an adult is laid down as a foundation. This not the time to be depriving your body of the essential vitamins which it requires like calcium, vitamins C&D.
During these years, even a short period of “strict dieting” could lead to a low bone density level. Low bone density weakens your bones in your later years; they become fragile and are susceptible to fractures and breakage.
Teen Dieting can also lead to low levels of frolic acid and iron, both of which may prevent you from becoming anemic. An anemic individual tends to be constantly tire. Their intellectual performance becomes impaired.
There are other health problems which are associated with teens undertakings “strict diets”, but there are too many to mention here.
4. What Does Healthy Eating Really Mean?
Teens, as long as you eat a variety of foods, from the 5 major food groups (fruits, vegetables, grains [rice, pasta, oats etc] lean meats, dairy, low fats) in the right portions you should get all the nutrition you need.
5. Are Certain Foods are Off-Limits?
No. healthy eating doesn’t mean depriving yourself of higher-calorie foods, like ice cream, pizza, cheeseburgers etc. You can enjoy all these foods and others in moderation.
6. Snack on Fruits to Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth
Take snacks of freshly slice fruit to school with you. You can also include some Walnuts or Brazilian nuts to munch on
7. General Rule of Eating Well
Make sure that half the plate contains vegetables and the remaining half divided equally between protein (meat, eggs, beans) and carbohydrates (rice, pasta, potatoes). When eating pizza, go easy on the cheese and pepperoni an heavy on vegetables and fruit.
