People who’ve had psychological and mental illnesses have claimed that yoga has helped them a lot. As more and more is learned about mental illnesses we are discovering that there are several kinds and aspects of mental illnesses. Then there is one named bipolar disorder. Bipolar is considered a major illness especially since it has no clear cut cure. People are prescribed medications in order to keep the illness under control. Yoga experts claim that yoga can help with bipolar since the exercise can balance and calm the mind back down.

Bipolar disorder is considered to be a manic depressive illness. The illness jumbles up the brain and the sufferer can experience mood swings, lack of energy, and a marked reduction in the overall ability to function properly. Normally every one of us experiences these types of emotions but not as drastically as someone diagnosed with bipolar. After a point, when and if these emotions get out of hand then the sufferer’s job, school work, and relationships become damaged. When a person’s mood is thrown way high and then crashes all the way down into a deep depression this can leave them emotionally and mentally drained of any energy. In order to assist such a person live a normal life there is talk therapy along with prescribed medication. Bipolar Disorder explained

Bipolar disorder can present drastic changes in temperament and sudden mood swings. The mood swings into high gear for mania and then experience a low down for depression. There are two forms of mania: hypomania and full blown. Full blown mania is when a person is diagnosed with Bipolar-1. When diagnosed with Bipolar-2 they are said to have hypomania. A bipolar person can experience the bipolar cycle experienced many times a day or it can only happen couple times a year. People have been known to lose interest in sleeping and concentration becomes much harder. There could be times that irritability, agitation, and lose of desire for reaching any goals are experienced. If experiencing symptoms of depression a person will have problems with sleeping, feeling very fatigue, deep sadness, high anxiety, and no concentration level what so ever.

Of course, antidepressants are prescribed but they don’t always help with the mania. With the massive highs and lows, it becomes harder for the medication to tackle the problems. Bipolar disorder is very serious and people could have high levels of anxiety, anger issues, terrible irritation, and even suicidal impulses.

Though Yoga Energy Is Unblocked

Anxiety in people diagnosed with bipolar disorder, has been successfully reduced with yoga. A psychotherapist named Stephen Cope wrote a book titled Yoga and the Quest for the True Self. He says when yoga is used, there are certain postures that help a person’s mood. Energy is moved away from the spots where there are anger and grief feelings being stored. Liz Owen is a yoga instructor that works with a number of people who are feeling depressed. Liz focuses on releasing the knots that are formed in the throat, heart and navel. When the knots are released then energy can flow easily through the body.

Medication and Yoga work together

Many centers that treat mental health patients that are diagnosed with bipolar disorder are using yoga for therapy. When taking the proper medication mania is dealt with but, there is still the problem of depression along with anxiety. The centers are using yoga for helping to reduce stress, anger, depression, and anxiety within people.

Yoga helps in dealing with bipolar induced insomnia

When a person has bipolar, then they do not get a lot of sleep because of the mania and depression that is being felt. When there is not enough sleep being had, then the levels of depression can increase exponentially. If caffeine is used for helping the person stay awake then there is the risk of experiencing mania. By using yoga a person is able to sleep deeper while becoming sustained. By improving how much one sleeps it helps reduce fatigue and a person is now able to relax.

Size does not matter with yoga

When using yoga there is no reason to stress what you will look like while doing the exercises. Yoga will push your boundaries in the body while increasing muscle strength, flexibility, and endurance. It does not matter how much you weigh or how active you might be in sports, the bodies are worked the same way.

When playing football, tennis, or even hockey only around 10-15 percent of the entire body is used. When using yoga the workout is going to utilize every organ, muscle, and joint in the entire body. All your blood will be oxygenated which will give you more energy upon completion instead of draining the energy. Although a Hatha Yoga teacher must be able to teach a variety of poses (asanas), practice many forms of meditation, and understand the inner workings of Yogic breathing techniques (pranayama), one of the most difficult parts of the job description is observing the class.

Yoga started in India and has been around for 5000 years. It is a way for uniting the soul, body and mind for experiencing tranquility. There are different types of yoga, but they all are for doing the same thing. Rid the body of stress and bring peace to the mind while achieving optimal physical health.

There are yogas that can help a person rise out of their state of consciousness that they are in. If it is paired with relaxing music the senses concentrate on the music and the person is drawn to a whole new level of perceptions. When one is taken to this level, there is now state of harmony being experienced throughout the person.

Yoga teaches a person how to control their breathing. This is known as pranayama. When a person is breathing correctly the mind along with the body are going to feel strength and vitality. By bringing energy into the body the brain is able to develop in different parts. This can also keep some diseases away by making the immunity system stronger.

For reaching emotional bliss and eliminating one’s veil of life there is meditation. Spiritual insight can be reached by channeling the soul and mind through meditation. It is able to remove fluctuations in the mind and a person will experience blissful stillness. A person is able to concentrate better since calmness and peace has been reached. Music is a key for meditation and achieving this peace of mind. The music is able to submit a soothing and tranquil sound that helps the person relax and feel at peace.

Music has become a big part when practicing yoga. By listening to the soothing sounds a person will enhance their meditative mood within their self. There are five different principles to yoga, with meditation being one of them. This is where there is awareness of your mind constantly. In order to perceive one’s own self in a clear manner, the mind is made to focus on one particular thing so the mind will become still. If practiced regularly, meditation will let you achieve a better sense of will along with sense of purpose. It will help your mind become clear, drastically improve concentration, while discovering the tranquility and wisdom inside yourself.

What Meditation Means

When you are brought to the present – the here and the now… and kept there, you are in state of meditation. This means meditation can easily be used in your life. Meditation does not mean writing down a grocery list of things you can focus on. You just need to be acutely aware of your being and keep your mind focus and away from random thoughts. When meditating, keep in mind about living in the present or NOW.
For concentration we need to focus on one object or thing: The focus could be how you breath, repeating a word out loud or in your mind, or even a sensation that is being felt inside your body. To live in the present it will involve the senses of listening, smelling, and feeling. Wandering thoughts should always come back to the object being focused on: The mind will tend to wander around when you are trying to focus on one object. This is normal so do not get discouraged with practice your mind will become quiet. The mind can be stubborn so other thoughts might creep in so instead of fighting the thoughts take a minute and acknowledge them and let them go. There is no for suppressing or trying to hide your thoughts when doing mediation. There will be times when you get distracted it is okay just go back to the original focus. When doing meditation try ignoring all sensations and thoughts that are irrelevant: You will not be taking to a new place of existence with mediation. If there are people around when you are meditating you will hear them still. The object with Meditation is to stay focused. Focusing will keep you in the NOW.

Meditation and the Benefits

The art of looking deep in your self is called Meditation and means having your mind focus while restraining from other thoughts. With practice you will learn your purpose in life and understand it better while benefiting in your mental health and physically.

As you get better with mediation you will start experiencing better mental and physical health. Some studies claim this is accomplished because of the reduction in biochemical markers and physiological. This means the heart rate will decrease, respiration rate will decrease, the stress hormone plasma cortisol is decreased, pulse rate will decrease, while the EEG for relaxation will increase. Meditation will have you in a deep relaxation state, while our mind is increased for the awareness level. This means your reactions are faster, creativity is greater, and your comprehension is improved.

How many times during the day do you feel stressed, pressurised or unsure how to meet the demands placed upon you?

Do you long to take “time-out” yet feel you have too many responsibilities and commitments to manage?

Maybe you have financial problems and worry how you are going to pay your bills; perhaps you are caring for an elderly relative who has recently been hospitalised and you are anxious about their welfare.

For people living in high-crime areas or uncomfortable or unsafe living conditions, you may have the added worry about your children’s or your own personal safety. All these factors can contribute to you feeling “stressed” and that you have no-control over events in your life.

As a Yoga Teacher, I see many people suffering from the physical effects of stress, for example, low back pain, digestive disorders, migraine headaches.

On an emotional level, when you feel stressed you constantly worry, feel anxious, irritable and unable to concentrate and think clearly. Long term exposure to stress wears you down which makes it harder for you to find the energy to stop and regain balance and enjoyment in your life.

Have you noticed that when you are completely stressed, the last thing you find time for is to rest and relax? Yet, your ability to cope with the various demands you face diminishes as you continue to push yourself. Learning how to relax, letting-go and regain your perspective is vital to help you manage your life successfully.

Have you ever experienced moments when you are totally at peace, calm and content with your life? Many of the students I teach yoga say that practicing yoga has given them “inner strength”, a “sense of balance and inner peace” which helps to enhance the quality of their personal relationships, stay focused at work and learn how to cope with stressful situations in a calm and more positive way.

Three Quick Relaxation Exercises For Stress Relief

One: Deep Breathing
Sit comfortably on a chair, rest your hands on your thighs, uncross your ankles, place your feet apart flat on the floor and close your eyes. Breathe in slowly and deeply, through your nose, for a count of three and slowly breathe out for a count of three. As you breathe in and out be aware of the rise and fall of your abdomen. Repeat 5 -7 times. Slowly open your eyes and take time to re-engage with your day.

Two: Hand and Leg Shake
Shake your hands and arms for one minute. Then shake your legs and feet for a minute. Stay still for a few minutes and feel waves of energy flow through your body.

Three: Shoulder Shrug
Stand or sit in a comfortable position. Breathe in slowly through your nose for a count of five and as you do shrug your shoulders up to your ears, slowly breathe out for a count of five as you lower your shoulders. Relax and repeat this sequence 5 – 7 times.

The benefits of practicing Yoga are numerous and well known by many at least at a very basic level. But the benefits of practicing yoga while ***** remain largely unknown in the western world.

I learned recently that **** yoga has been practiced in India for thousands of years so is not a new modern phenomena at all. It is a bit more serious in India and has a much deeper side in that the **** aspect is renouncing all physical and material aspects of our world. We probably are not dedicated enough and in fact we would be arrested if we wandered around the country completely ***** discovering our true natures. However in India there is a small group that do exactly that.

Nude yoga is all about the discovery of the self and nothing to do with ***. However saying that with the new appreciation of your body and the increase in energy resulting in a massive increase in self esteem – you will naturally feel sexier!

Practicing yoga without clothing lets you see exactly what your body is doing inspiring increased concentration and mindful practice. Their is also the obvious advantage that you don not have the restrictions that wearing clothing can cause when you are practicing yoga movements thus greater freedom.

Yoga **** cultivates freedom in your mind by eliminating those anxieties that a lot of us have about our body. After practicing yoga for some time the physical results on your body speak for themselves. But the real benefit is how you feel about your body from the inside out. You will notice that you know longer have fears of what people are thinking about you because simply put you know you have a very energetic and powerful body – you feel fantastic and don’t give a damn what other people think. It is more likely as you continue with your practice of **** yoga your body will be transformed and you will receive compliments.

There are classes where you can practice **** yoga but I am encouraging people to practice it in the privacy of their own home. Home is the place where you are most comfortable and relaxed hence home is the place where you will get optimum benefits, unless you want to do check out other people of course. If that is what you are into then you are probably in the wrong place. As I said **** yoga is about discovering your self – not discovering someone else!

Remember yoga is a study of the mind, body and spirit and the unification of the three. It is not some superficial exercise routine that takes five minutes for flat abs! I say don’t be prude and give it a go!
