@SohailBahadur Yes, you’re right this is not Sun Salutations. I have this DVD (Yoga Shakti) and I believe this is called “Dancing Warrior One”.

This is not Suriya Namaskarum (Sun Salutation), Please do not mislead ppl, however the lady doing exercise here is good in her fitness and if she do the real sun salutation (which include 11 poses), would surely be very good.
thanks

I pooped out at 5 minutes but the gentle shoulder articulation was most appreciated.

holy cow… americans sure know how to spice things up. this is the second video of surya namaskar which does not look so. maybe there are variations… hmm.

You might be interested to know that in Shiva’s DVD and her teachings she does include the mantras as well for the namaskaram – maybe this was a special version for TV?

Among teachers of Hatha, few are better than Shiva Rea. The ease of her asanas flows from within- expressed in every movement and breath.

yes, you are right.. the surya namaskara usually includes mantras at the start of each ‘surya namaskara’ when in pranamasana.. but as you know, surya namaskara can be practised on varying levels of awareness, ranging from that of physical exercise in various styles, to a complete ‘sadhana’ which incorporates asana, pranayama, mantra and chakra meditation. but i think shiva rea is more “vinyasa flow yoga” “vinyasa” being used in its broader sense as “breath-synchronised movement”

This is a great lady – look at the flexibility, look at the seamless motion and stretching.
BUT
This is not Sun Salutation – this is westernized dancing sequence choreographed copying Yoga postures.
Where are suyanamaskar mantra’s ?
If mantra’s are not recited with proper OM – this is not surya namaskar.
Good job on maintening physic though !!

I’m here for the yoga (although I must acknowledge this woman’s amazing, stunning bottom), but I have to say, Is that Bessie Smith’s voice in the music at around 4:00? Bollywood-type music with Bessie Smith’s voice (or at least some other jazz-rag singer from the 30′s) dropped in? Whoever did this is a musical genius!
Best music, and the best yoga: These are the best videos out there!
