@julietaruss33 – yeah, I’d say it’s the best exercise I’ve ever done too. It’s 90 minutes exercise and you can keep it going because there’s the instructor keeping you motivated through the microphone throughout. It’s also low impact so it minimises or even eliminates joint damage. Heart rate increases to 130 bpm.

@Enerjee Errr you obviously havent been running hard enough! Try doing some hill sprints, you will be exhausted 10 x more than doing bikram.

The comment about this yoga not being for overweight people is totally incorrect.
I’ve been doing Bikram yoga for quite awhile and there are ALL shapes and sizes in the classes. Some people look like contortionists and some can’t touch their toes. Everyone works to the best of their ability with no judgement. That’s why yoga is called a “practice”.

this is not a yoga class for overweight people! i love the bikram yoga it´s a total clense.

@Enerjee, thank you for answering my questions. For the record I have been doing yoga for a very long time I’m thin and in good shape. I still cant touch my head to my knees. Some people just cant.

@OCgirliechick – Yes people “who cant (sic) touch their head to their knees” do this. Those who are flexible have been doing it for a few months. The room does stink of perspiration when you first enter, but not while the class is on as there are ceiling fans and extractors going all the time together with the heat being pumped in.

I did my first 2 classes this week and it’s the best exercise I’ve EVER done. It works the whole body and your heart rate gets higher than if you’re running.

@bethal1998 – Yeah, 1stone is 14lbs making 1 and a half stones 21lbs.

In those awful kilos that the Europeans use as a result of the French Revolution it’s 6.39kgs so 1 and a half stones is 9.55kgs.

@OCgirliechick Improved flexibility is supposed to be a benefit of yoga training, so just go for it and see if it helps.

I am very physically fit but have poor flexibility, always have. I want to try this because I love yoga and this looks like a great workout but I am still just so NOT flexible! Do people who cant touch their head to their knees and such do this too?
Also, does the room stink of perspiration?

Bikram yoga is the best exercise I’ve ever done. I like it alot. Even though I am a little overweight.

I would love to try this but I sweat about 8x as much as a normal person, dont if these people are sweating this much! I might die lol

Yeah, im 15 and i do it every day, but i would really think it depends on the person. Its really really really hard, and it takes a lot of will power and concentration. They tell you , the first time you go, that it is your first goal to stay in the room for the full 90 minutes. I have only had to leave once and thats just because i wasnt feeling well anyways. I would really really recommend this.. i know this is like 4 months late, but if you haven’t done it, do it for sure hope this helps

I just went to my first Bikram class. I wanted to cry and puke all at the same time.. SOOOO intense!! I am going back tomorrow!!! Namaste…

@glendabruin57 Ya i literally just started today. It was tough and the sweating was intense but I feel so fantastic and energetic

I think I would get to sweaty. It is intense. I m intimidated but my girlfeiend at work says I shoudl try it. I hope you can bring gatorade.

i am over weight and just starting Bikram. I thought i was not going to be able to do it. Although the first days i felt like passing out it soon felt easy. it is for everyone its amazing

I want to attend my local class, but I’m really self conscious. I’m gonna make the effort though, cos I’m bloody awful to be around at the moment lol!

i really want to go to a class but i’m so nervous i normally do yoga at home, i just turn the heat up lol
