Security for men is to maintain their own apartment.

Yeah it brings women security because if they decide to leave, they still get to take half of the guy’s money and assets.

Really, if she gets all these things after a divorce, she should still have to come by every day and have *** with him, clean, cook, ect…

Definitely one sided in that she still gets the money benefit while he gets the shaft.

The saddest thing of all is when there are people that think marriage has to do with love. You can still have the same love and do all the same things without the marriage contract. In fact, I’d be more impressed by a couple who stayed together without the (financial) pain of a divorce preventing them from splitting.

Now it would be nice if marriage were about love. But the law would have to get their dirty hands out of it.

Men and women are alot more equal with money. My wife and I earn about the same amount, and both equally rely on each other.

Thanks to our marriage, we could afford to buy a house, and do things we might not be able to do if single.

The bottom line here is that you just have to be careful with who you marry. Live together for a few years before marriage. That will tell you all you need to know.

I am a married woman, and i did not marry just for security. i married because i love my man so much there was no room for any one else but him. he asked me to marry him when i least expected it and promised me he would make me the happiest woman alive. the security is wonderful but the love is better.

You’re generalizing. I bought the car, the house, and brought in the assets. Whenever you make the choice to have a child then divorce, the non custodial parent is court ordered to pay child support. (Still can’t figure out the bitterness around child support. You still have to support your children whether they live with you or not.) I paid a hefty pay out to divorce my ex. He couldn’t stomach the thought of having to pay his own bills. I’d say his sense of security came from being married to me.

This is another reason why more men prefer to stay single these days. Marriage as an institution will be debunked within the next 4-5 generations.

it’s the men around me that many of them i saw, marrying women for security since it has been the women making more money than them. fortunately that’s not how my dad treats my mom however, as financially, he is responsible and independent enough that he doesn’t need my mom’s money, but it’s different for the other men around me that i saw.

there is TOTALLY nothing wrong for women wanting to leave the man who doesn’t want to marry her. it shows that she is supporting family organizational and not promiscuity and that even *** outside of marriage will just leave women with tons of risks, including the risk of being dumped by the boyfriend who impregnated her as he refused to pay child support and only put all the blame on her like this it’s your fault for opening your legs. haha funny

If you are worried about a posible divorce at some time in the future, it is possible to print out a pre-nup agreement from one of the many sources online. Which if I were a man, I would do and as a woman I would have no problem signing one. Then having protected yourselves from possible future acrimony, you proceed to reap some of the legal benfits of marriage such as shared insurance benfits, shared retirement benefits, being considered next of kin should anything happen to your partner, and still have the feeling of love and security that should always exist in a decent marriage.

Well frankly I don’t believe in marriage, if marriage cannot become separate from the Church (eg. not allowing *** marriage) even though it has come so far, then I want nothing to do with it. And I say De facto NOT marriage.
Note that I think yes, if you want to marry for religious reasons that’s fine, but for the rest of the population it should be more of a legal thing.
But you know even the whole idea of marriage, if you break it down to individual things, is pretty stupid.

Your answer is dependent upon the principles of the man involved.
For old fashioned men like my husband, having a wife and nice kids was a dream of his/theirs…not just a woman’s dream. You seem not to respect women, as a whole, and okay, that’s on you. But we have feelings and generally do not want to be used for our bodies and company just until you get tired of us and then move on to the next conquest. Marriage came to be, BY MALE SOCIETIES, for the betterment and protection of society, family, and assets. Modern couples and those in the past found that romance, psychological comfort, and familial happiness could be earned there too.

I don’t mean to insult you and I can understand that you don’t want to be conscripted into anything or bullied, but marriage isn’t always just a stopover to divorce court. There ARE really happily married people and that includes men, too.

Personally, I don’t WANT a man’s assets after leaving him and believe it or not, I have been with wealthy men. When I am done, particularly if he was cruel, I want NOTHING to do with him…pictures, gifts, etc.
I gave back an expensive Bulgari bracelet and a Harry Winston ring to one man, for instance.

Now that I have a child with my current husband, if things go sour I would want him to help me with her private school fees and college, but NO spousal support.

I find these statements absurdly rash and judgmental. What about a couple that don’t own a house or the wife doesn’t drive, does she feel less secure then those that can claim that from their husband when he leaves her? What about the men who get custody regardless who stayed home and who worked?

What do men get? Well if they were in a traditional marriage before he flaked then he got years of housecleaning, child-rearing, dinner, laundry, etc and when he leaves he knows his wife will raise the kids probably like she has always done and he can enjoy his life while she gives up hers.

I would recommend you not get married. If you need to get more out of it then love and partnership and all you do is plan for the end marriage will not work and would be a bad answer for you. I know several men who dodged that bullet, and they are pretty happy. Nothing like being the 60 year old, single party guy, who no one truly loves so he spends all his time in bars giving young hotties his money while hoping to get some and still leaving with a women shaped like a pear. Okay they are not happy but they have their homes and their cars.

I think that your question shows that you are not ready for marriage. And for some people marriage is never for them. Marriage should not take place if one person is not ready or against it. If the other person feels a need for marriage, they need to look elsewhere. That’s a hard decision for them to make if they love you. You’re shattering their dream.
It sounds like you have not met someone you trust. You’re talking about divorce, before you have gotten married. I wonder if this happened in your parents’ marriage.
The benefits of marriage are that 2 people make a commitment to each other; they’re telling each other that they want to spend the rest of their lives together, through good times and bad, and into old age. They’re saying that they want to be responsible for each other. They’re calling themselves a family. This makes them feel good.. If they have children, the children feel more secure. No one should go into marriage without feeling that commitment. This is a decision that only you can make. Good luck.

You sound really defensive and perhaps with reason… Maybe marriage is not for someone such as yourself.

There are many people men and women who enter into a marriage bases sole on love and the desire to unite as husband and wife then into the whole family arrangement…

No one is perfect so of course from time to time things may disrupt the marriage weather it by inflicted by one of them or unforeseen things that just happen in life…

Marriage vows are for a purpose and should be taken seriously.

Having said that, if a marriage is not fixable, and divorce is the last resort, and one of the parents had agreed to be a full time stay at home parent, for the well being of the children and spouse then technically the stay home parent is not leaving the marriage with anything that was not rightly his/hers. Why? Because just because one takes on the role to be the stay home parent, does not mean he or she should leave empty handed. Being a stay home parent is one of the most important roles in the family, side by side with the one bringing in the income from the outside.

Example here is a list of what I do:

I cook all the meals
I clean up our home and it is most always spotless
I handle on the bills and financial end
Take excellent care of our children
Have made it to every doctor appointment, been there to stay every night in the hospital with our youngest
Been to every parent/teacher conference
Dental appointments
Consistent mommy taxi to and from school
Arrange play dates for them
Spoil hubby in every way I can which is a long list in its self
Take care of the pets, one dog two cats… Which I am now delegating to our girls so they learn responsibility…
Most important, they are very well mannered children. Every where we go this is noticed. I find it very eye opening because to us this is normal behavior but when you get out and about you see how many kids are not well mannered and show a real lack of respect for people…
They are doing well in school, happy, and secure…
I could keep going on what I do in my role of being the stay home mommy but I what I am trying to say and show is, if the one who stays home does their role to the fullest and the marriage for some reason fails should not have the burden of leaving with nothing…

It just does not make sense… So caution is definitely needed when you chose someone to marry… Or decide to never get married… Marriage vows should be taken very seriously but many times they are not.

Now for some shaking up may do fine… So what ever floats your boat…

This may have hit a bit of a sour note as I read it because as perfect as our marriage is almost 96% of the time there is still that nagging small percentage that can be pure h3ll when it abrupt… Depending on issues is what decides if the marriage can sustain, and endure the trials and how much love and compassion goes into it…

You can bet your *** if ever my marriage fails, I would first and foremost be fair, but I would also consider what angle I need to take to succeed at life as a single parent… My life is just as valuable as anyone Else’s…

And still if a spouse is so bad and does none of the above, or only some and is a lousy spouse, this is why you take caution of who you chose to share your heart with…

Take relationships seriously when it comes to a life partner… Because you cannot see into the future…

If I am their Govt, I would pitch women against men by saying TWO people can make ONE decision, so they get busy fighting for the only ONE decision, then I can make sure I always get TAX $$$, especially after divorce! then get their children into my social workers’ hands, basically, get them all under financial ruin, so I can control them as slaves…. work to pay TAX $$$ or die of hunger, hahaha!
